TITLE: CHRIST HERITAGE
Colossians 3v24: knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
(26/7/2019)
Today’s message is talking about my inheritance in Christ, who we are in Christ… Our true identity in Christ, that transformation that took place the day we gave our life to Christ as our Lord and savior.
Firstly, we all need to understand what it’s to give our life to Christ because most people come to the alter to surrender their life to Christ without the full understanding of it… The day we gave our life to Christ, we accepting him as our Lord and also as our savior but most believer accept the Lord as our savior not as the Lord over their life that’s why after salvation our life still remain the same person or even still go back to our old man lifestyle…beloved in Christ for us to be saved, we need to believe in Christ as our savior because we can’t save ourself no matter our self righteous work but only the blood of Jesus shed on the cross can save us, and we have to be willing to obey the Lord as the Lord over our life, that means we have to submit our will at the foot of his cross to allow only his will to be done in our life, that means we can’t decide for ourselves anymore the same way our parent decide for us as a children…anything the Lord says, that’s what we will do… For the word of God says : But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he behold himself, and goes his way, and straightway forget what manner of man he was. But whoso look into the perfect law of liberty, and continue therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed (James 1:22-25). Also, God’s Word is likened to water that shows us who we are, what we carry and what we can do. It is written: As in water face [answered] to face, so the heart of man to man(Proverbs 27:19; Ephesians 5: 26; Isaiah 55:1/11).
Furthermore, the Word says: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12)
What, then, is the Word Saying about Us?…as a redeemer in Christ Jesus… Which is our true identity in Christ.
Continuity….
1). We are truly saved to be a royal priest hood :
for so ever the son set free is free indeed…(1 peter 2v4,5&9)To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,…Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ…But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light…we are not that person people use to know before… We now a joint heir with Christ into the family of GOD… A royal, a price… A man of honor and respect… So we should endeavor not to behaving like a no body but a king in making… The Son of the Almighty GOD
2). We to enjoy a healthy life free of sickness:
The Word of GOD says: Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed(Isaiah 53:4-5: see also Matthew 8:17). Thus, redemption entitles us to live a sickness and pain -free life. The same way He took the place of Barabbas in death and he walked home free is the same way He took our place in sickness and disease; so we can walk free from them for life…even when we are week… We should say we are strong… Because our healing is guarantee in Christ.
3). We are made to be an healer:
setting the captive free…(Isaiah 61v1) The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound… Because the spirit of Christ now dwell in us… When we lay our hand on the sick they ll surely receive their healing… Even our shadow alone will heal the sick because we believe in Christ.
4). To live an overcomer life:
As it is written: For whatsoever is born of God overcome the world: and this is the victory that overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4). This means, we have been redeemed to live the overcomer’s life through the instrumentality of faith which has capacity to crush every gang up of hell against our lives. It is written: Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16). Never assume faith; consciously cultivate it because faith comes by hearing and understanding the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Remember, we do not overcome because we are born again; we overcome because our faith is actively alive. However, our victory is guaranteed if we are born again and we engage with the Word of faith in total obedient to the Lord. So, we are not just free because we are born again, we are free because we take responsibility to build our faith against the gang ups of hell on our lives (2 Corinthians 2:14).
Continuity…
5). We are a light to the world:
an ambassador of Christ… The same way Christ was a light unto this dark world, we are also made a light too… We have been redeemed as light in the world of darkness, that means we have been redeemed a pacesetter, a pathfinder and a trailblazer (Matthew 5:13-15; Isaiah 60:1/3). So, every child of God is redeemed a light to the world and can only remain lighted by the Word. For it is written: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. That was the true Light, which lighten every man that come into the world. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:1/9/14).
6). We have the power to make wealth:
(Deuteronomy 8v18).. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
(Isaiah 61v6)…But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves… GOD those not give us wealth but He has made us the source of wealth so that every one around us can be blessed through us as a blessing to all nation.
7). We are redeemed to reign with Christ in eternity:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord… (Roman 6v23)… We are the citizen of heaven and the possessor of the earth… The kingdom of GOD is where we belong, our destiny inheritance and also here on earth to dominate for Christ.
In summary, you can only access your heritage in Christ from the Word if you are born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Savior…please let your Holy Spirit indwell in me and reign in my life… Thank You Jesus, for saving me! Now I know I am born again, In the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen
